April Showers Bring May Flowers…But What About the Mud?

Next Level Business

“April showers bring May flowers.”

We all know the adage that even after long periods of adversity, good times are bound to follow.

You may have started to apply this to your business. You’ve been working hard and made it through your first quarter, no matter what storms have come with it. However, perhaps you’re feeling less enthusiastic about your results because the first quarter didn’t quite go as planned.

With April showers, they don’t talk about the mud or freak snowstorms that come even after Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction was supposed to be an early spring. So how do we approach our second quarter that will give us long-term success?

Rain Boots for Your Business

If the old adage is true, we are bound to have unexpected storms that come our way in business and personal life. The challenge then is, what rain boots (or waders) do we need to walk through those mud puddles?

  1. Evaluate the Muddy Patterns: We are creatures of habit, and as such, it’s easy for us to replicate an old bad habit because it feels comfortable and initially seems like we’re going somewhere, even if it gives us the same results. My encouragement is to take a step back from what you’re doing and analyze what has been working in your business, and what has been wasting your time. Unless you look at your business from a 30K-foot view, it’s easy to get caught up in the weeds.
  2. Establish New Goals: Spring cleaning is all about out with the old, and in with the new. If you’re finding yourself in the same rut that you’ve been struggling with for a while, reevaluate the goal you’re aiming for. If you don’t want to change your goal, how can you change how you approach the goal? Be honest, is there something you haven’t tried yet? If you need to change directions, remember to use each measuring factor – time, money, and energy – to make your decisions.
  3. Jump-In: No matter how much research or preparation you do for new steps to take, you’re still going to get a little wet when you first jump into something new. Don’t let this stop you from working towards your goals! If you need an extra little push to get started, reach out to me and I’d be happy to help get you started!

Even when the rain comes, stay positive darlings. With rain comes rainbows. With hard work, your goals are going to pay off. You may not see it now, but planting seeds for later will be magical to watch grow into something wonderful.

I’m looking forward to seeing it!
